About this tool

A cowboy-themed twist on the random order race — same fair, fully randomized mechanic as the classic Race Timer, with a posse of distinct cowboy and cowgirl characters racing toward the finish line instead of plain icons. Paste in your student list, hit start, and let the posse decide who goes first.

Works for anything you'd use the classic Race Timer for: presentation order, reading turns, deciding who answers first, or picking a line-up order at dismissal. The Wild West theme tends to land well with classes in the middle of a history, adventure, or storytelling unit, and the variety of characters (a sheriff, a grizzled old-timer, a lasso-swinging kid, a cowgirl deputy) gives students something new to notice each time you run it.

As with every race on this site, there's no limit on class size, no account required, and results are different every single time — reset and race again as many times as you like during a lesson.
